Rochester, NY—On Thursday, May 4, 2017, MassMutual New York State presented a check to UR Medicine Home Care in the amount of $5,200 as part of a fundraising effort in which a portion was raised by staff and the rest a company match program for Camp Heartstrings/Camp Dreams. Camp Heartstrings / Camp Dreams is a free summer camp for children who are adjusting to the death of a love one.
MassMutual New York State is dedicated to the local community and to the area as they span a territory covering the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse regions. “A commitment to service and community outreach is a one of the pillars of our organization” states Joe DiLeo, CEO of MassMutual New York State. Kristina Watkins, COO of MassMutual New York State-Rochester said that “we decided that our annual recognition dinner was a perfect venue to raise funds for a local organization that we felt strongly about. The fact that we could support local children who have been impacted by tragedy was an important factor in making the decision to support Camp Heartstrings / Camp Dreams. We are pleased to be able to create an opportunity for a child who may not otherwise be able to participate in this wonderful program.”
Camp Heartstrings / Camp Dreams is presented by UR Medicine Home Care, Dreams from Drake, Pittsford Youth Services and St. John Fisher College. It is available to children entering grades 2-11 in September 2017. There is no charge to attend, but space is limited. It will run from Wednesday, July 12 to Friday, July 14, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:30pm daily on the campus of St. John Fisher College.
