Here is the write-up from the awards event about Andy. Thank you Andy for all that you do!
Andy has volunteered with our Meals On Wheels, a program of UR Medicine Home Care, for six years, and in these six years he has consistently gone above and beyond—igniting new ideas, generating promotional opportunities, recruiting volunteers and increasing donations.
As the Meals On Wheels Adopt-A-Route Coordinator at Paychex, he coordinates the two routes they deliver. He also encourages other Paychex offices throughout Monroe County and in other parts of the United States to become involved with Meals On Wheels.
Andy took the first opportunity available to extend his volunteerism beyond delivering meals when he volunteered to promote Meals On Wheels at the Big Rib BBQ and Blues Fest in the summer of 2013. Throughout 2014 Andy’s initiative drove him to reach farther to help meet the need by arranging to have the Webster Chamber of Commerce include a flyer about Meals On Wheels in their newsletter.
Andy continued his support of Meals On Wheels in 2015 though more initiatives. He became involved with our March for Meals Campaign by reaching out to Famous Dave’s restaurant to create a fundraiser during the month of March which raised $250.00 for the program, and the effort helped us secure a $2,000 March for Meals grant from the national organization, Meals On Wheels America.
Andy also continues to look for ways to raise money for Meals On Wheels. In July 2015 he applied for and secured a donation from the Paychex Foundation for $2,000! And in July of 2017 a $2,500 donation was made by to Meals On Wheels by Paychex to recognize the efforts of Andy and his colleagues as an Adopt-A-Route group.
Andy’s belief in Meals On Wheels and his dedication to advance its mission are undeniable. Without a doubt, he is an incredible asset to the organization, and therefore, was invited to join the Meals On Wheels Advisory Board. His active involvement was immediate.
Andy supports Meals On Wheels in so many ways. He delivers meals, he schedules co-workers to deliver meals, he recruits volunteers, he serves on the Meals On Wheels Advisory Board, he initiates fundraising ideas, he secures donations and grants, and he also invigorates the organization. His can-do-attitude and out-of-the-box thinking is inspiring to the staff, the volunteers and the Advisory Committee.
