Dr. Jacqueline Coates, DNP, MS, RN, FNP-C received the Hospice, Home Health & Palliative Care Nurse of the Year award at the 8th annual Rochester Nurse of the Year awards. This event was held on October 12th and it honored nurses all across the region and in different areas. Congratulations Jackie! You make URMHC proud!
Here is a snippet of her nomination: Dr. Jacqueline Coates practices as a Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner at UR Medicine Home Care (URMHC). Jackie provides exceptional education and guidance for Hospice staff, and compassionate end-of-life care for patients and their families. Jackie also serves as Director for the “We Honor Veterans” program; a service which she is very passionate about. Among her many accomplishments, Jackie is a National Instructor for the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) at both URMHC and St. John Fisher College, where she also instructs student nurses, inspiring them to share her passion for compassionate end-of-life care. She brings her expertise to the racetrack on many weekends as Director of Nursing for NASCAR, where she was awarded the Nursing Director of the Year Award in 2016. Jackie’s commitment to teaching and sharing her vast experience with other nurses to motivate them and prepare them for success in their own professional careers earns my nomination for Nurse of the Year.
