Ontario-Yates Hospice honors veteran

Ontario-Yates Hospice We Honor Veterans team of Michael J. Healy, Kimrose Healy Dean, Max Bishop and Jan DiDuro recently honored Richard “Dick” Jopson at Hospeace House on Oct. 31, 2018.

Friends, family, former co-workers, and country band members numbering approximately 80 people gathered to celebrate Jopson’s three years of service to the country in the National Guard.

A local high school band played the National Anthem following introduction of the We Honor Veterans team and opening prayers offered by Max Bishop. Michael J. Healy then presented a framed certificate of appreciation from Ontario-Yates Hospice and pinned an American flag pin on Jopson’s left lapel. Healy Dean read the National Guard creed and, together with her father, laid an American flag blanket over Jopson’s lap. The team stood at attention and saluted the honored National Guardsman.

Hospeace House opened up its house, deck and yard for refreshments and music by Jopson’s country band because he had requested a “party.” Red, white and blue decorations and balloons added color.
